If you are a pinterest addict like most of us bloggers are these days, then you have probably seen this yummy little treat bouncing around lately. This blog has TONS of great recipes!! So I pinned this one on my board about a month ago & knew I would make them at some point this holiday season. We had a Staff/Board Christmas Party last weekend & I needed a white elephant gift for it. I figured this was the perfect time to make them! As part of the gift I decided to fill a cute mug full of these Truffle Hot Chocolate Balls with a card that explained how to enjoy them. FYI: It made a ton of these little treats, so you could easily just make half the amount & have several to go around.
To Whip These up you will Need:
- 12 ounces semi sweet choc chip pieces
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- Nearly 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Take it out, stir, notice it looks kinda icky like this, keep on stirring, pop back in the microwave for maybe 30 more seconds… until all chips are melted… then it should look like…
This! Nice & Smooth. Leave it on the counter for about 10 minutes. Cover & put into fridge for 2 hours.
After at least 2 hours scoop out 1-2 tablespoons of ganache onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Place into the freezer for 25 minutes. While your ganache is in the freezer cut out small pieces of plastic wrap big enough to wrap around the ball.
Pull the cookie sheet out of freezer & roll the mounds into balls then place each in its own piece of plastic wrap.
I tied little pieces of yarn around each truffle. I tried to use red ribbon but couldn’t get it to tie well. So yarn it was! Make sure to put these straight into the freezer until you are ready to enjoy!
To enjoy simple pour 1 cup of hot milk into a cup with the truffle & stir until blended. My sister said that she has made them & put them in her coffee, I might try this tomorrow.
VERY YUMMY!!!!
