A Honest Momma. Join me?

I LOVE being a stay at home momma to my sweet little ones.
These days are so special. Sweet, lovely, and charming.
These little people are two of the three greatest loves of my life.
I prayed hard for each of them.
God has been so faithful to give them to me. Entrusting me with their lives.
However, that doesn't mean that some days are not challenging.
Each day is not all smiles, snuggles, and pretty. Some days are mini marathons that I highly doubt some of the best trained athletes could ever survive. Physically, maybe. Mentally, not so much. Being the main caregiver for your family is a challenge at times. I think the most challenging part of it all is for the momma to know who she is, where her identity rest.

As women if our identity is found in the state of our home, then anytime the laundry is overflowing or the floor needs mopped our happiness will not come until we complete the chore.

As a momma if our identity is found in the perfection of motherhood, then we will constantly be striving to be better. Do better. Make them happier. Buy them more things. Take them more places. Do it all.

As a wife if our identify is found in our husbands, how best we can make them happy and striving to be the best house wife (vomit) then we will most surely fail.

When we fail at all these things where our identity is placed then what is left?
Where do we go from here?

Lets find our identity in Jesus. Finding joy, peace, comfort, and fulfillment in Him.
Lets remember that being a wife & a momma is not always picture perfect.
Lets give ourselves some grace. Forget trying to always have the prettiest instagram or facebook pictures for the sake of pleasing someone else. Can we forget pretending to be the best? Life is messy sometimes. Lets embrace it.
In saying all of this I've started something on Instagram.
Started capturing little moments that might not be so perfect.
Perhaps they are moments that most wives, mommas, and women in general would rather keep a secret. Not letting other mommas, wives, women know happen in your home. For example, maybe your bed is unmade for the 5th day in a row. The dishes are still on the table from last nights dinner. The laundry, well that is never done and piling up out of control in your room. So you just keep that door shut tight.

I've started capturing these moments and sharing them with the hashtag, #ahonestmomma
If you search that hashtag you will see my post from the last few months.
One thing about myself that I will forever work to keep is my honesty. To always be real, never trying to be something or someone that I am not. To not be a pretender of a woman, momma, wife, friend, or believer. To be real. Honest. True.
With that said, will you join me?
Will you be #ahonestmomma ?
Will you consider joining a community of women who are in the same place that you are.
Who maybe need an encouragement that its okay to not be perfect. To not have to have everything together all the time.
Lets face it, thats not reality. Thats not truth.

Being a honest momma is not an excuse to be a lazy woman. To not care for your children, husband, or neglect responsibility of your home that the Lord has blessed you with. Instead its simply the reality that being a mommy & wife is hard work sometimes. That the reality of a tidy home 24/7 is just not gonna happen with littles. If it does, you can forget ever having a free moment to yourself. to think, write, pray, spend time with others. enjoy your kids being kids. to relax. to feel a little more human. its just not going to happen unless thats all your life is…. cleaning. I would rather be growing and celebrating life.

So if you would like to be vulnerable with me in the hopes of encouraging others & knowing that its okay to not be perfect join me with #ahonestmomma ! Click here to connect!

Happy Friday Y'all! (Instagram Style)

Happy FRIDAY Y'all!!
Yes, I'm from Texas &"Y'all" is a key word in my vocabulary.
Today is brought to you by Instagram.
My Kayla inspired headband. I've made several that remind me of her. However I can't pull them off like she can. A girl can try, right?

This week while Noah was at MDO I went to work like a crazy lady making all kinds of headbands, bows, hair clips, tons of jewelry, felt ornament, and coin purses for a market I'm selling at next month.
Of course watching Friends while getting some work done.
This week I've continued my hunt for shoes for Noah. He is in between sizes & finding shoes for him is very difficult. I didn't find any. But Noah found a pair that he LOVED! He spotted these tacky oh so cute cars light up snow boots from a mile away. I let him wear them all over the store & even stayed in the store longer so he could enjoy them. Look at that face, he is so proud!

I did not purchase them. Kinda feeling guilty about it.
 If they would have been $5 I might have. Not worth $25.
So the verdict is in, Johnny has pneumonia. My poor guy can't catch a break this month. It has been a hard week on him physically & to cheer himself up I caught him watching our wedding videos. It was so sweet to see him watching these. It was also fun to share them with Noah.
Turkey Wednesday was this week for the youth at our church. Every Thanksgiving Andrew & Angela have a huge party with lots of food for their youth group. Silly me volunteered to make the stuffing. For 70 people!I totally cheated & made half homemade & half from the box!
My kitchen after. It stayed this way until after church. I sent this picture to Angela before church. lol

Last night one of our good friends, Chase, stopped by to see Johnny. He came bringing gifts in the form of COFFEE from Starbucks for both of us!
After Chase left I enjoyed sitting on the couch reading magazines, drinking yummy coffee, and holding hands with my Noah. Johnny joined us too!
Oh, this is what my morning looks like every day.
This one crawls into our bed at 6:30 am. He's good about letting me sleep a few more hours thought. I'm a blessed momma! Happy Friday Friends!

Insta-Friday, The Week Re-Cap

Happy Friday Friends!
This week has been pretty crazy around here with the exception of yesterday, which was full of at home planning out the next month of events coming our way. Lots of fun things in life that just gotta be planned & brainstormed :)
Saturday we hung out as a family & did a lot of relaxing. It was lovely. The rain was perfect for the day at home.
Relaxing.
Monday nights are Java after Jammies with some sweet ladies at Panera. I hadn't got to see Johnny much so he came into the bathroom while I got ready. Played me some tunes & Noah had to bring his drum in to play with him. Of course. Totally normal bathroom activities, right??
Noah & I had lunch at Chick Fil-A with friends on Tuesday.
We also had to take Noah to the doctor for his ears. I'll explain later. Oh my!
Wednesday morning I went to a friends house for a bit, went shopping for the Stripes Party for Influence next week. And then the afternoon rolled around & I realized that my goal of cooking at least 1 meal for the week was slipping away... so I literally raided our pantry to find tortillas, enchilada soup, enchilada sauce, green salsa of some kind (ha), queso white cheese, & made 1 1/2 cups chicken. Literally, I threw it all together & made easy enchiladas.
Oh, we threw sour cream in too.
They may not look too appealing here, but let me tell ya, we were SHOCKED at how yummy they were. Could have used some more heat but they were pretty good friends.
Thursday, Noah & I seriously laid around so much!
It was wonderful & relaxing. Much needed.  He was a bit of a handful this week but this kid can snuggle like no ones business. I totally took a 2 hour nap with him on the couch yesterday. Couldn't tell ya the last time I did that.
It was so nice.
Thursday nights are young adult small group. We went to Starbucks & played Apples to Apples instead of the usual at our house dinner & Bible study. It was fun! Noah LOVES Chase! It is pretty sweet & funny. Happy Friday! Hope you have a great day!

Perhaps, I Should Apologize for Being a Bad Blogger...

So maybe I need to apologize for being a "bad blogger" the last two weeks.
But I wont.
Our life is usually pretty busy (we like it that way) and the last few weeks have been even busier than usual. It is a good busy. Actually it is a great busy & we wouldn't change anything.

We didn't always like to be busy, but God has totally given us a love for fellowship with other believers, those who don't know him, and for simply enjoying living our life out in new ways.
Hence the new love for this busy life.

Today I want to share a few things you should know about myself & this little blog. Know that I wont pretend to be something that I am not. I will never write up a post I don't really care about just to have words fill up this little place of mine on the internet Monday-Friday. I won't have a post ready to be read at 8 am every morning. Sometimes I won't post until 7 pm. I don't have a theme for my blog because I love way too many things in life to just write about one of them. I will always be honest about what is going on in my life, stay true to who I am, and not blog about things that I don't really care about. I will post about silly things sometimes because I like to laugh & have a good time. I will post about DIY's & crafts (bc those are big hobbies in my life & I enjoy them). Also, I will post about my adventures in cooking & baking because I'm trying to get better at those. My husband & son will frequent my post more often than not. So will family & close friends.

I will always talk about my love for God and my strong relationship with his son Jesus. I could never deny who he is to me & how he has brought me true joy & freedom through accepting him as my personal savior. Why? Because I want EVERYONE to know all about him & the goodness my life truly is because of him. He is so big in my life there is no way around not talking about him on my blog.

~~~
Just wanted to share those few details this afternoon before posting some instagram pictures from our week. Oh, this week has been so fun! Although Noah was sick two days it was filled with so much greatness. This week has been full of hanging out with sweet friends, talking about dreams, sharing what God is doing in our lives, laughing a lot, a little crying, praying, and so much goodness! Love seeing God work in my life & the lives of those around me.
A few pictures from the week:
Noah was sick, we cuddled ALOT, I consumed lots of coffee, had cereal often
 & learned more Creole (take me back to Haiti soon Lord)
a massive Dollar General semi got stuck in the student center parking lot.
Noah was very intrigued by this. However all of the pastors were not. ha.
We played art dough (like it better than play dough because it is easier to mold at his age) inside Monday & Tuesday while he was sick.
I'm totally addicted to cucumbers & French dressing.
Today we met up with my cousin Kristin & her sweet husband Kyle. They live near Seattle & I have not seen her in  about 9 years. Crazy. It was SO GOOD to see her & to meet her man. I can not believe she is married, I'm married & have a baby, that we have real grown up jobs & lives, and we are not teen-agers anymore. Just nuts how fast time flies by. Truly loved seeing her & getting to know her husband a little. I can see why she is so happy. Such a happy heart kinda day.
Happy Friday Friends!
 Hope my honesty today was okay.
Insta Friday
It has been such a fun week & I thought the best way to share everything from this week would be a fun Instagram post. I love instagram! Don't you? To find me on instagram click the icon on the right side bar.
Last Friday night we made a TON of cookies! Over 400! Thankfully 7 ladies volunteer to make cookies to contribute. Friday night we had our friends Jason & Meredith over & they helped bag up a ton of baggies full of cookies for college students @ LETU for church fair day...
we stayed up past our bedtime having fun & the next day we went to LETU for church fair day. I only came home with 40 bags of cookies. Eventually, we gave those all away too!
Had to mention Now Rejoice on instagram this week!
Click the link to get excited & involved with the series!
Oh, we finally got a new comforter but now our
re covered lamps dont match. ha
Sunday was a fun day of just being lazy with my family.
I tackled late night dish washing. Seriously I hate waking up to a sink full of dishes more than I dislike being half asleep washing them right before bed. Anyone else do this?
Wednesday Noah started MDO. My friend's little girl, Eliana started too. After we went to hang out at the church. While they played we got to chat.
Look at this fun cup of coffee! This portrait was a surprise in Debbie's coffee cup on Wednesday night! I'm so thankful for my sweet friend Debbie. You know those people in life that you just really click with & feel like they totally get you, my friend Debbie is one of those people for me. Every time we get together we don't stop talking about what God is doing in our hearts, lives, and how he is growing us. We could talk for hours. Happy Birthday Lady!
Oh, my son decided to TP the house on Sunday morning.
He also played me some music on the piano this week.
Yesterday I took him to stay with my parents for the weekend. He is just such a sweetheart. On the long drive he wanted to call Grammy, so I let him. Well then I heard him say, "mommy is driving, daddy is at work at church, I go see grammy okay?"
He wasn't on the phone with my mom. A telemarketer had called & Noah answered. Ha! She got an ear full as they talked for 7 minutes! Too funny. Eventually I picked up the phone & the lady on the other end was really nice & she was happy to chat with him for a while.
I would love to see your week via Instagram. Leave a comment so I can come say hello! I think next week I might make this a link up!
Happy Friday!
